Max Lake - still the KING for trophy Pike. Due to our conservation efforts, this fishery keeps getting better every season. The size of the girth on the Northern & Wallleye in 2009 shows that this fishery is as healthy as it has ever been. Chris Stowell's giant 47 inch Pike (right) is proof in the pudding. The Lucke group also caught another 47", a 46" and 8 other fat Master Angler Pike in the last few days of August and early September of '09.
Every season our guests catch and release more 45 inch plus Pike than any other lake in Manitoba. Max Lake held the Manitoba all-time Northern Pike record from 1992-2004. The monster was caught and released in '92 & it was 59 in. long! Longer than the World's Record! Kurt Haverland (left) caught a 48 inch Northern & an amazing 50 inch HAWG, left, in a two day period in mid August of 2008 at Max Lake.
Max Lake is Manitoba's Premier Northern Pike Lake. In addition to Max, our guests can also fish three other lakes that can be navigated by boat and another lake by portage. One of these lakes include LOGAN LAKE, which is one of Manitoba's hottest new lakes for Trophy Pike. Our guests catch hundreds of Master Angler Northerns (41 inches or longer) every season and have caught them up to 59 inches! There is also fast action fishing for Walleye's that will average around 3 lb. and up to 32 inches long.
Blake Johnson's monster Pike (right) measured 49 inches and had an amazing 25 inch girth. That equals OVER 40 POUNDS!! We also caught the largest Pike in Manitoba in '97. It was caught and released at Max Lake in June. It measured 54 in. long and weighed 39 lb.!!
Monster Northerns like these are caught routinely on Max Lake - throughout the season. It is not uncommon for some of groups to land 20-40 Master Anglers fduring their stay at Max. You will probably catch more fish in May & June. However, some of our largest Pike are caught in July, August, & September.
