For over 20 years, Molson Lake Lodge has enforced the catch and release program - and it's working!

2009 was another record shattering year at Molson Lake. The trophy Walleye fishing has absolutely exploded on Molson Lake. We recorded hundreds of Master Angler Walleyes in June, alone. In fact, some of the packages in late June were producing almost 2 Master Angler Walleye PER PERSON!!

It's an amazing amount of trophy Walleye And remember... with three species of trophy sized fish to go after, guests were catching all these trophy Walleye in only a few hours out of each day. The average size in all three species was way above normal.

For over 30 years Molson Lake has been known as one of the top Northern Pike lakes in Manitoba. Our Northerns will average between 6-8 lb. with trophies being caught up to 50 inches long! Our Walleye fishing is what brings a lot of our repeat customers coming back year after year. They now average between 4-5 lb. with trohpies being caught up to 32 inches long! Lake Trout are a nice bonus fish that will average between 6-8 lb. with trophies being caught up to 40 inches long!

All Northern must be released, Walleye over 22" must be released, and Lake Trout over 26" must be released. We ask that you photograph your trophy, release it and fill your "take home" limit (4 Walleye & 1 Lake Trout) with "eating size" fish. By releasing larger fish, we help propagate the species. Conservation is further enhanced by the use of barbless hooks which is now mandatory in Manitoba.

The results speak for themselves, as every season we break new records for average size & number of Master Angler Northerns, Walleye, and Lake Trout.
